Why & when is best to visit tonga

Why Tonga? Tonga is one of the few places on this earth you can legally swim with the humpback whales. Tonga if one of the few places humpbacks go to to birth their calves. This means they stay in the area for several months while the babies grow strong enough to continue their migration. The best time to swim with the whales in Tonga is August through October.

The Tongan islands create a unique shelter from the elements and weather. Thus giving us calmer waters and better snorkeling conditions when the winds are challenging. They also offer some of the most diverse amount of sea life and reef to explore.

explore and learn with Larry Beard

Larry Beard is a world class, a National Geographic published, and an award winning photographer. He is also an avid waterman spending the better part of his life in the ocean. First surfing and competing as a professional surfer. This is where he fell in love with the ocean and all its many living creatures. He then studied and honed his craft as a ocean photographer.

It is only because of Larry’s excitement and desire to share these experiences that these tours even exist. Larry stated “After having one of the most inspiring experiences of my life in swimming humpback whales, I felt compelled to share this with others. How can I keep this to myself?” And so these tour were born.

Established in 1988, The Oceania Project is an independent, nonprofit, scientific research organisation dedicated to the conservation and protection of Whales, Dolphins and the Oceans. The first phase of a long-term study of the East Australian Humpback Whales has been the major work of The Oceania Project: https://www.gofundme.com/theoceaniapr... Humpback Whale Songs are passed down over generations and evolve in a similar fashion to the verbally transmitted tribal lore of Australian Aboriginal Culture from where the term Songlines is derived. Songlines of the Whales Playlist: https://soundcloud.com/iwhales/sets The East Australian Humpback Whales travel in an unending cycle of migration between their birthplace in the inter-reef lagoon of the Great Barrier Reef and their Antarctic feeding areas. Their world is comprised of vast stretches of ocean where songs emitted by the Humpback Whales can be heard over great distances. Each year the whales sing a new song. Haunting melodies of radiant joy which fill the ocean along the East Coast of Australia. When ecosystems across the planet are collapsing and species are becoming extinct at an accelerating rate, the East Australian Humpback Whales are making a remarkable recovery. They have become Australia's national treasure and a symbol of hope for our imperilled environment. We as the new generation of caretakers of the planet Earth have learnt from the mistakes of our elders and are helping nurture the Rebirth of a Species.
